A (VERY) BRIEF HISTORY OF BOVINGDON AIRFIELD

During the Second World War, the Bovingdon Airfield was used by both the Royal Air Force  and the United States Air Forces. Bovingdon was built in 1941 as a standard Class A RAF bomber airfield and the main runway was 1,500 meters long and the two secondary runways were both 1,310 meters long. Over 30  hardstanding buildings were built and operational missions were flown in June and July 1941 by the RAF until the airfield was turned over to the United States in August.

Now we race bikes around the Bomber circuit.
